“Bad habits are like a comfortable bed, easy to get into, but hard to get out of” English Proverb
Frustration, pain, embarrassment, anger. These are the fruit of bad habits. Not to mention wasted time, energy, poor health, disease, loneliness and disappointment.
Bad habits come in many forms – emotional, mental, physical and spiritual.
Bad habits can be defined as any regular action that takes us away from our good and goals. They hurt ourselves or others in some way.
“A chain is only as strong as its weakest link” English Proverb
I have come to believe we are only as strong as our worst habit. One bad habit can have the power or ability to render the rest of our talents and gifts useless if we don’t take action to overcome it.
You might have one bad habit that trips you up on a regular basis. One that is the source of much of your pain and frustration and that if you could be rid of it, your life would be infinitely better.
It might be the weak link that is undoing you.
For example, you can see that a bad habit of smoking could negatively impact many areas of your life. For example, it would directly impact health, lower energy levels, reduce your finances, waste your time by having to purchase and consume cigarettes, negatively impact relationships and work opportunities.
Likewise a bad habit of overeating can lead to health problems associated with being overweight. Relationships could also suffer, along with self confidence and self esteem. Time and money would also be wasted purchasing and consuming unnecessary food. Being overweight may also impact energy levels and the ability to perform at a high level at work.
So, you can see, that one bad habit can unfortunately impact many areas of your life and prevent you from living a full and happy life.
Even simple habits like being consistently late can result in missed opportunities and ruined friendships.
